Haddad Gets Bulldogs' Lone Goal

POTSDAM, N.Y. ? No. 3 Clarkson scored four times in the first 20:48 at Cheel Arena Friday night against the Yale women's ice hockey team. While the Bulldogs then held the Golden Knights scoreless for the final 39:12 -- sophomore goaltender Jaimie Leonoff finished with 35 saves -- they could not make a comeback. Freshman forward Jamie Haddad scored the lone goal as Yale fell 4-1.

After scoring a pair of even-strength goals in a span of 47 seconds early in the first, Clarkson (9-2-0, 3-0-0 ECAC Hockey) extended its lead to 3-0 with a power play goal at 9:59 from forward Vanessa Gagnon. The Golden Knights then finished off a perfect 2-for-2 night with the man advantage when forward Shannon MacAulay scored a power play goal 48 seconds into the second period to make it 4-0.

The last time the Bulldogs had been at Cheel Arena, the Golden Knights broke open a 1-0 game with six third-period goals for a 7-0 win. This time, Yale scored the only goal of the third, as Haddad tallied her third of the season off assists by senior defenseman Jamie Gray and freshman forward Janelle Ferrara. Leonoff made 12 saves in the final frame to finish with 35, and she has now made 31 or more saves in all seven games this year. Erica Howe made 16 saves for Clarkson.
