Video: Dad dies after he?s pushed from subway platform

>> mr. roker, we're new yorkers and all new yorkers. there's a story in that. i want to warn you if you have children in the room this can be tough to listen to. there's a tragic and horrific story here in new york. shortly after noon yesterday in one of the new york city subways a fight broke out between two men resulting in one of the men pushing the other in front of an oncoming subway train . the photo that is on the front page of "the new york post" is alarming. i show it to you only because police are now desperately looking for the man who pushed this man in front of that train. he was killed as that train approached the station.

>> there's a picture of the suspect. there were witnesses all around. there ian's even video of the fight that preceded this where this man, according to police, pushed the victim right into the subway's path. the train was coming, speeding obviously towards them. did not have time to stop, and, in fact, the subway train driver had to be taken away in a wheelchair dealing with shock and some of the pictures this morning really show that.

>> one of the things, you saw that picture in the front. the guy takes -- somebody is taking that picture. why aren't they helping this guy up?

>> we should explain the person who took the picture, another picture in the paper where the train is a little further away and you can see the victim clearly down on the tracks, a freelance photographer who says he was actually trying to use the flash from his camera to alert the driver of the train.

>> i find that -- i'm sorry. somebody is on the tracks. that's not going to help. try to get them off the tracks.

>> hard to make a judgment about what someone does in a panicked moment like this, but the photographer for the paper said he was rushing towards the scene flashing the camera to alert driver and wasn't able to help.

>> most importantly tragic for this family of the victim, but if anyone has information, and if you're living elsewhere, we apologize for a second. in this area and you have any information about the suspect in this case, please contact crimestoppers. the number is 1-800-577-tips. once again, 1-800-577 tips.
