Can your outside interests, your job, and your relationships have a direct affect on your overall health? Most healthcare professionals will agree with a loud YES they do.
There a few common factors that influence your overall health outside of genetics, family history, age, and gender. Interesting factors that influence health that may be overlooked are healthy relationships, lack of stress in the job arena or having a job that you love, good faith based friends, a religious belief system, a hobby that keeps you interested, a love for books, travel, or other interest that is outside of your daily routine, and a love from a pet.
If you find that your mental health is in a funk or your physical body is exhausted and run down for no apparent reason, consider what factors might be influencing your health. Sometimes eliminating a?cause of stress?or taking an afternoon for yourself to visit a museum, work on a hobby?or just read a good book can bring a peace to both your mind and your body which is always good for your health.
Women who multi-task, have the responsibility for so many things in the family, and are busy taking care of everyone else may be tempted to put their interests on hold for financial reasons or lack of time or waiting till the children grow up. But studies show that women who follow their hearts and passions by participating in at least one hobby or outside interest have better health and quicker recoveries from illnesses and injuries and are more focused when spending quality time with their families. It is also proven that those with a hobby, pet, or outside interest have an improved alertness and memory as aging approaches.
So here is to your health. Follow your heart and find your passion. Develop your talents and spend a little time each week on something that makes you feel good. Your body and mind will thank you.
