ANCHORAGE, Alaska ?
The Great Northwest Athletic Conference has imposed a one-game suspension on UAA men's basketball coach Rusty Osborne for unsportsmanlike actions in the final seconds of the Seawolves' loss on Saturday at Central Washington.
Osborne picked up two technical fouls and was ejected with 4 point 2 seconds remaining in the contest.? According to the GNAC, Osborne then went onto the court following the ejection to confront an official.? In the game, UAA erased a 20-point deficit to the Wildcats in the second half before falling short, 81-72.
In a statement, coach Osborne said the following:
"I have accepted the sanctions handed down by the GNAC for my actions Saturday night. We teach our players that there are consequences for our actions, and this is the consequence that I must accept. Our staff has high expectations for behavior within our program, and my actions were outside the boundaries and unacceptable.?
Assistant coach Cameron Turner will coach the Seawolves on Thursday night at home against Western Oregon.
