We are always doing something creative when we are home and I am always looking for new ideas so the kiddos don't get bored!?? These days I am especially interested in finding crafts for my son to keep him busy while his sister and I concentrate on her formal school lessons.
I recently had the opportunity to try a project from 1-2-3! Textured Projects.? The products from 1-2-3! Textured Projects are hands-on and include different textural materials.
For this review, I received Trunker the Elephant.
Included in this kit was a cardstock die-cut elephant shape and three small packs of different textured materials; some brown yarn, small white beads and shreds of pink and white paper.? All I needed to provide was glue.
I set up the table and gave my son a glue stick.? Now, being a homeschool mom of course I had to make this educational and not just a craft.? When I first opened the kit, we discussed what the animal was (which of course, he immediately was excited over) and then I let him touch each of the textured materials individually.?? We talked about how each material felt as well the colors.? Then I just let him have fun with it. I encouraged him to get creative.
I have to say, I think he really enjoyed himself!
So what's the buzz from this mama?
For me personally, I don't think I would buy these on a regular basis. I have enough craft supplies in my home that I could put together my own kits for little to no cost. ? However, I think that these kits, in general, are a great idea.
Since these kits are geared toward 2-5 year olds, they would be great for a daycare or a very busy parent of a preschooler.? I love that they focus on the importance of kinesthetic learning and I love that everything is in one convenient package - all you need is the glue!
You can purchase individual activity packs for $4.99 plus shipping.? Each activity pack includes three projects, theme ideas and conversation starters.
If you'd like to stay updated on all the latest from 1-2-3! Textured Projects, be sure to follow them on Twitter.
If you'd like to try out a kit for yourself, you can get a free sample of an ocean theme with fish if you pay a shipping charge of $1.50. So try it out - you may just love it!
But that is just one mom's opinion.
Have you tried 1-2-3! Textured Projects?
