Amazon and Barnes & Noble may be the current e-reader kings, but that doesn't mean that there's no room for rivals. Kobo has been giving them a (small) run for their money for years now, and today they've launched the Kobo eReader Touch Edition. This new device touts a new "Real Touch" experience, a new design, built-in Wi-Fi, and it's also the company's first international eReader, available in six languages.
Starting today, the new Kobo eReader Touch Edition will be available for pre-order at leading retailers across North America including Indigo (www.indigo.ca), Best Buy (www.bestbuy.ca), Walmart (www.walmart.ca) and Borders (www.borders.com) for an MSRP of $129.99 USD and $139 CAD. It'll start shipping in June, and will include a $10 gift card for good measure. It'll also be available in a variety of colors, and will hit with a whole new line of accessories.
More good news for the taking? The first-gen Kobo Wi-Fi has now fallen to just $100 in the U.S. As for the new guy, it'll be powered by Freescale's i.MX508 processor, and it'll have enough storage for up to 30,000 books. So, has Kobo won you over, or are you still siding with Kindle / NOOK?
